Periodontal Flap Surgery
Periodontal flap surgery is commonly used to treat those with moderate to advanced periodontitis when scaling and root planing is not effective.
Periodontal flap surgery begins with an evaluation of your oral health in addition to the removal of all plaque and tartar from around the teeth. If you are a proper candidate for treatment, then your gums will be folded back so direct access to the roots and bone can be achieved. Plaque, tarter and inflamed tissue will then be removed from any holes in the bone. Any bone defects will also be taken care of and the bone will be reshaped if needed.
